Back in the late 80s and early 90s a new quiz show craze swept our nation. The name of the game was Catchphrase and the host was the inimitable Roy Walker. I have to admit that I'm a huge fan of Roy Walker. He was an Irish stand up comedian and was the only person I know who even failed to make old age pensioners laugh. His jokes were so bad that most of the time he was the only one in the studio laughing and for a man who based his career on comedy, this was not a good sign. Still, amidst it all, he appeared constantly happy and his beaming face and demeanour endeared him to a nation, myself included.
The object of the game was to identify a catchphrase which was shown animated on the screen. They even had a name for the funny Pac-Man like character doing the animating, Mr Chips. These would be popular phrases represented by words and images. Play the game for about 5 minutes and you'll get what it's all about.
So how to translate this show onto the mobile format? Well, G@meloft came up with the ingenious yet still frustrating method of allowing you to input the answer like an SMS.
